Éclair: for real gourmand

Bye bye macarons. The last addiction for the real gourmand is called éclair. Here the two cult places in Paris where you can try the most delicious.

Forget about those overrated macarons for a minute. The new craze in Paris is éclairs. They’re slender, frosted, cream-filled choux pastry puffs. If that’s making you drool – and the swimsuit-on-the-beach days are over for this year in any case – hop over to L’Eclair de Génie (14 Rue Pavèe, Paris), a concept store opened by the Michelin-starred chef Christophe Adame in the heart of the Marais. It has a jaw-dropping range. Alongside traditional flavours are more unusual ones (mango, banana, melon and green apple). One for the sophisticated palatte. Another mecca is l’Atelier de L’Eclair (16 Rue Bachaumont, Paris). There are heaps of lustrous, inviting pastries and a surprising bespoke catering service, which lets you create your own recipe and choose the shape, size and the colour of the glaze.
