Álvaro González: a brand new line of timeless chic luxury accessories

Álvaro González is a new line of accessories created by Álvaro González, who is an accessories specialist and talented designer. Álvaro González is the former Accessories Designer at Valentino, Design Director of Accessories at Jimmy Choo, Creative Director at Stuart Weitzman’s SW1, and current Design Director of Valextra. The Spanish-born, Florence based designer, has a career spanning 17 years designing accessories behind the scenes for major European luxury houses including Tod’s, Loewe, Malo, Emilio Pucci and Loro Piana. For Jimmy Choo he created the brand’s first ever handbag collection, at the time a huge commercial success. He debuted on the Mr Porter website the last summer with his eponymous line of men’s leathergoods a small collection of three styles of sandals and a simple belt in few colors, and this season he made his debut with a women collection of only flat sandals e leather goods. It all started at the time he was working to Jimmy Choo when he made for himself slim belts and simple flat croco sandals from remnants in the Florentine factory that produced the Jimmy Choo heels. Friends soon began asking to buy the items, but it wasn’t until a dinner two years ago with the staff from cult menswear shopping site Mr Porter that he decided to make his personal pieces a brand. The collection is the essence of timeless chic, with pure and linear forms, with richly coloured calf and crocodile skins developed by specialist tanneries have been crafted into sandals, belts, small leather goods and bags by select artisanal workshops around Florence. The collection is sold in the cult concept store Colette and few, but very selected boutiques.
